The N.G. Fitness Story

"My passion for fitness and sports began at a very young age. I was the kid playing sports year round. I was born in Frankfurt, Germany and moved to Northern Virginia when I was 6. Upon graduation from High School I joined the US Navy where physical fitness was essential.

Years later just after the birth of my second child, I hit a very low point in my life. I had left physical fitness out of my life while I was pregnant and ended up gaining over 70 lbs. Over time, I was able to lose 40lbs with diet but couldn’t shake that extra 30lbs. So one day I worked myself up to the challenge of running on the treadmill until I burned 1,000 calories. This was not easy for me but I did it and I'm proud to say I'm still running today.

I ran the Marine Corps half marathon in May, 2010, the Virginia Beach Rock-n-Roll half marathon in September, 2010, and the Virginia Beach Rock-n-Roll half marathon in September, 2011. In June, 2011 and August, 2012, I completed the Spartan Sprint which is a 5k loaded with 15 obstacles (climbing 8-foot walls, dodging paint balls, climbing up 50-foot rope walls, and belly crawling through a foot of mud underneath barbwire). My fitness goals have changed over the years and I continually modify my training plan to support my ambitions.
